Absolutely fascinating, short op-ed here on what "genius" entails:

Genius: The Modern view

I've read this a couple times now... 10,000 hours plus some ability is the minimum requirement to become an expert or really good at something. Let's see, 10,000 hours / 40 hours/week = 250 weeks. That's 5 years.

It does make some sense, right? Genius is not some scary, magical thing you possess... it's ability plus tons of work. Or is it just that it would be great if that's how things really worked?

Hard work and passion are their own reward... so, it works either way.

Speaking of passion... Ultimate frisbee rules!
