Back to the 12 steps

Zee playoffs. Dreamy. (sigh)

The BIG kids have the week off, with their fancy bye weeks: #1 San Antonio Kindness and #2 KGG.

The wildcard round featured two upsets... the visitor/underdog won each series:

  • Naperville Meerkat 8, Thomas Okay Team 2   [boxscore]
  • Plano Tiburon 5, Killer Maltese 5   [boxscore]

On to the semis!
thanks... yow, bill

1978 Strikeout Leaders
In 1977, Phil Niekro led the NL with 262 K. Nolan Ryan led the AL with 341 K.
Phil Niekro threw a 70 mph knuckleball, and Nolan Ryan threw a 100 mph fastball.

Nolan Ryan... HOF'er (duh). He played 27 seasons and leads MLB all-time in career strikeouts (5,714) and walks (2,795).

Phil Niekro... also in the HOF. His career lasted 22 years, but in all that time, Niekro only pitched in 2 playoff games. Hey, back in the 60's only 2 teams made then playoffs and then they expanded it to 4 games. Back then, just making the playoffs was tough, tough, tough. Ask any Cubs fan of that era.
