Buffalo Chatbot
The Buffalo Chatbots are a robo-team this season. Commish Bill (me) will "manage" Buffalo during the season.
Here are my notes on how Buffalo business will be handled:
- No Bill-decisions during the season. Changes will follow these guidelines or be voted on by LP3 owners.
- Little activity - Buffalo moves will only happen in response to injuries (weekly) or underperformance (monthly). There will be no daily swapping or streaming of players. Buffalo won't make trades, of course.
- Pitching - Buffalo will roll with 4 starters and 2 relievers...so the 25 IP weekly min is always reached.
- Online draft - The Buffalo online draft (rounds 1-15) was auto-selected by Yahoo.
- Late draft - Because of recent history, Buffalo's late draft picks (rounds 16-20) are a little messy. Here, Yahoo's preseason rankings are used to select the "best" players with IL or NA players being skipped.
- Rounds 16, 17 - Select the best RP. Alas, both RP auto-selected for Buffalo are actually starters with SP/RP eligibility. So in these rounds, Buffalo selected two "real" RP who are not injured or "NA/Not Available". I'll check that using FanGraphs "Closer Depth Chart", www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/closer-depth-chart
- Rounds 18, 19 - Select two hitters. Previous owner, Ex-Max, selected 1B Carlos Santana (min) in Round 19. So, the Round 18 pick was the best hitter who is not a 1B.
- Finally in Round 20, the best overall player was taken. If the best player is a hitter, then he should play a different position than the players in Rounds 18, 19.
- Here are Buffalo's late round picks: Round 16 J Lopez (nym), Round 17 T Kinley (col), Round 18 K Ruiz (was), Round 19 C Santana (min), Round 20 Max Kepler (min).
- Injuries - Weekly, I'll check for injuries in the starting lineup. If a player is on IL, then I'll move him to the Buffalo IL slot. Then I'll move a bench player into the starting lineup. If there is no bench player at that position, then I'll select the best player (Last 30 days) off the scrap heap. Once/if the injured player returns, then I'll drop the new player and return the injured player to the starting lineup.
- Stinky players - Monthly, I'll move higher-ranked players (using last 30 days) from the bench into the lineup...to avoid playing guys who stink or have been benched.
- Owners vote - If during the season, something happens that isn't covered here, then LP3 owners will vote on a resolution. Example: What happens if more than 4 players are injured.
