Hump Lose

Well, Hump lose... I know, I know... boo hoo.

Hump lose in the first round of the playoffs to Bolingbrook 50-35.

Let's go to the videotape and look at the key matchups:

  • Hump superstar Peyton Manning pulled his first zero of the year and Basher QB D Flutie also pulled a goose-egg.
  • The Hump's hottest receivers E Moulds, P Jeffers and R Smith combined for 18 points (all by Jeffers). The Bashers hottest players E James, E Smith and Q Ismail combined for 24 with Edgy pulling in 18 of those on short runs.
  • In the battle of the scrubs, the Hump got 6 points from James Stewart's replacement R Huntley. Bashers got big scrub money from E Kennison and T Mathis, to the tune of 18 points.
  • Kickers were a non-factor. Defenses didn't score.

It was a great season regardless. Peyton Manning and Steve Christie both tallied more than 100 points. Our plan was to have three 100-point scorers, but we were really hurt by Joey Galloway holding out, and then coming back and not scoring. Our Seattle defense/special teams hasn't scored since week 8.

The Hump did grab two UFFL records this season:

  • The Hump set the UFFL record for the best start of any team with a 9-0 start. The streak ended with a 1 point loss the Madison. The Hump finished with a 11-4 record, losing their 4 games by a total of 13 points (1, 3, 4, and 5).
  • The Hump are now the winningest team in UFFL history with a 29-16 record. The Hump's winning percentage of 64% is the league's highest.

Good luck to Tim and the Basher in the championship game!

Love and kisses... the Hump.

PS - It's probably all for the best that we lost... I would have been (even more) unsufferable. Dang.
