About the draft

Here's what's happening. Right. Now.

  • MLB 2020 is a go. LP3 2020 is a go!
  • Our draft day/time is set: Sunday Jul 19 @ 3:00 pm
  • We're working together to decide what LP3 2020 will look like. I'll spam ya. (smile)

Here's the deal:

  • Round 1 - Each team drafted one player on Sun Mar 22. On Chatzy, we chitted and chatted about our slow draft, the coming apocalypse, and some baseball too.
  • Slow draft - Rounds 2-7 were completed one player per day while we waited for MLB 2020 to happen. This period is known in LP3 lore as "The Slow Draft". We started on Mon Mar 23, and the last pick was Sun Jun 14. That's 84 players in 84 days.
  • Draft, part 2 - Rounds 8-20 will happen the good old-fashioned way. We're working on it. Stay tuned.

Sections below are in chronological order. Draft results are last. Scroll on!

Never boring. ha...yow, bill

Original plan

All hail — the LP3 2020 draft day/time is:

Fri Mar 20 @ 7:00 pm

IMPORTANT: The regular, old LetsPlay3 draft has been postponed...until they figure out when the MLB season itself will start. www.mlb.com/news/mlb-2020-season-delayed

Dop.

Slow-motion draft

QOTD
"This truly is in slow motion!"
- E Thomson, reigning LP3 champion

LetsPlay3 will have a slow-motion draft until MLB gets back on track. It's pretty cool. Here's the deal.

  • We will chatzy on Sunday Mar 22, 2020 @ 3:00 pm CDT. On Sunday, we'll chatzy, hoist a cold one, and complete the first of the 2020 draft.
  • If you can't make the Sunday chatzy, please email me and we'll work it out. Thanks!
  • After that, starting Monday, we will pick one player each day using the draft order above. Not one player for each team. One player period. We have 14 teams, so each round will take 2 weeks to complete.
  • Use email or Facebook to communicate your pick to the Commish and the league.
  • If you miss your assigned day, just email me your pick any time after that. No prob.
  • At the end of the round, I'll chase down any team who hasn't picked.
  • The slow-motion draft ends when MLB announces the start date for their season. We'll complete the current slow-motion round, and then finish the rest of the draft in normal-speed fashion.

Slow. Motion. (smile)

Draft, part 2
Number 20 - Mike Schmidt (phi)

Here's the plan...so far:

It's taken a long time to get here. Feels good!

Chat-See you Sunday. thanks...yow, bill

Draft results

Slow-motion draft results are here:

OK. Four months in the making...

Here are complete LetsPlay3 2020 draft results. Excellent!

One last weird/fun thing. Our Premium Chatzy room let us have more than 10 chatters. It also kept a log of our entire draft conversation. Maybe not the most useful thing ever (cha), but here you go: chatzy_log1.txt, chatzy_log2.txt

thanks...yow, bill

Regular season

MLB 2020...is here. LP3 2020 too.

Fun stats

I'll snag some fun stats weekly from our Yahoo site. The usual averages and NIPR stats aren't necessary in Roto; Yahoo gives us all that right in the Live Standings page. So, these wimpy stats are just a historical record of team performance and ranking week by week.

I'll do an update each Monday morning before any games start. MLB 2020 ends on Sunday Sep 27. That's 10 Sundays, and my last update will be Mon Sep 28.

Here's the main spreadsheet. It tracks each team's points and rank on the given day.

Next, just a screen grab for each week: standings and points (for all the cats).

Getting started

First dinger of 2020 goes to NotMike Stanton (nyy)...but no fans to fight for the ball. (ha) twitter.com/YahooSports/status/1286441292621373441

Wrap

That's a wrap, baby.

The LetsPlay3 2020 champion is: Naperville Cactus, owner: Bill Krieger

I have a couple final (lazy) links for you.

  • The LP3 2020 All-Star team, all_star_team.png.
  • The last week was a fist fight between the top three teams: Naperville, KGG, and PTBNL. Here's all the action (scores) from each day of the last week, the_last_week.png

Thanks to all. It was challenging, but it was great fun.

Against all odds, MLB won in 2020. We won too. (smile)

I'll see all y'all in 2021.

thanks...yow, bill
